Worldwind tour of Udaipur

Yesterday we got back from our "tourist activity" of the trip. We went to Udaipur, Rajasthan, and saw basically everything in two days. The place is amazing. I basically decided that I MUST live in a city on the lake sometime in the future. Lake City's beauty is unparalleled, with Palaces and gardens built around two main lakes, Lake Pichola and Lake Fateh Sagar. We got the full flavor of Rajathani culture, from elephants, to camels, to puppet shows and dances. You can see for yourself! Oh, and did I mention it's fricking freezing here?

Heloooo

Greetings! So, in my first 48 hours here I had breakfast at my Grandfather's brother's house, then lunch at my Grandmother's sister's house, then dinner at my Grandmother's other sister's daughter's house, then breakfast at my Grandmother's other sister's house, then dinner at my Dad's best childhood friend. Oh, in between, my cousin taught me how to drive stick. Needless to say, Delhi traffic and the whole left side thing worked against me, but I managed to make a few rounds. Mama and Papa Gupta were not too pleased when they found out. Oh, and the same cousin also tried to electrocute me on the kitchen stove but I outsmarted him and he ended up electrocuting himself. Ha! The video is of his super cute daughter who insisted I tape every one of her dances.

T-24 hours to departure

I keep hanging up on my dad because I switched my phone plan to global web access and now I have no minutes. Damn Verizon. Don't fear, we finally resolved the packing issue. I found my roommate's scale and weighed my carry-on, weighing in at 33.6 lbs. I'm good to go.

I also practiced my video upload skills on my roommate's dog. Check it out. I promise I'll start posting relevant content on the blog.

T - 6 days to Departure

Yesterday I realized that I forgot to check for vaccines. My mom handed me malaria pills that expired in 2005. I objected and she said take them anyway. Ghhhhhetto! Hopefully I’ll be alive tomorrow. My co-worker told me to take them at night on an empty stomach and I’ll have some “wild dreams”. Seriously?

Oh, also...I bought my mom a webcam so she could talk to her sister in India and see everything going on over there. Worst decision of my life. Now she calls me at work every day to walk her through how to use it yet again, and she insists on showing every single item we are packing in our suitcases over the webcam. Shoot me!

Thankfully she’s boarding the plane from Newark airport right now. But she called to ask me what the weather in India is for the next few days - It’s a little late for that, don’t you think? Nevertheless, I dutifully report back – it is 68 degrees.

I'll let you know when I hear more.
